We are living in an increasingly globalized world and all of us are inter-dependent in the socialeconomic-political order and there is an increasing need for international social work. In the intervention, the main features of this phenomenon and the implication for social work will be analyzed. A special attention will be paid to the tensions confronting international social work and the opportunities offered by an inter-cultural perspective. The Global agenda process, with special attention to the 2016-2018 commitment “Working toward environmental sustainability”, will be presented.
