The Ibadi cult in North Africa has always been closely linked to the Berber language. The inhabitants of the small enclaves of Ibadites in North Africa still speak Berber until today, and the passage to Malikism is often accompanied by the loss of the use of Berber. On the basis of the ancient testimonies, some aspects of the sociolinguistic relations between the two languages are traced back over the centuries (language used in oaths, translations / comments in Berber Arabic texts or Arabic Berber texts, different uses at the written or oral level)

Abstract
The Ibadi cult in North Africa has always been closely linked to the Berber language. The inhabitants of the small enclaves of Ibadites in North Africa still speak Berber until today, and the passage to Malikism is often accompanied by the loss of the use of Berber. On the basis of the ancient testimonies, some aspects of the sociolinguistic relations between the two languages are traced back over the centuries (language used in oaths, translations / comments in Berber Arabic texts or Arabic Berber texts, different uses at the written or oral level)I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
