We study Duffing-likc equations of the type q̈ = q-α(t)W1(g),with a £C(ℝ, ℝ) periodic. We prove that if the stable and unstable manifolds to the origin do not coincide, then the system exhibits positive topological entropy. ©1999 American Mathematical Society.
