A new route to realize photon up-conversion is presented, based on harnessing energy through bimolecular processes involving triplet-triplet annihilation sensitized via resonant energy transfer. The process is inherently independent of the coherence of the incoming photons, and, thanks to the large population of metastable triplet states given by the transfer, up-converted photons can be obtained by using ultra low excitation power densities similar to the solar emission level.

Abstract
A new route to realize photon up-conversion is presented, based on harnessing energy through bimolecular processes involving triplet-triplet annihilation sensitized via resonant energy transfer. The process is inherently independent of the coherence of the incoming photons, and, thanks to the large population of metastable triplet states given by the transfer, up-converted photons can be obtained by using ultra low excitation power densities similar to the solar emission level.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
