Retail Work and Liberalization of Consumptions. A Comparative Research on the Deregulation of Shops Opening Hours. The paper is focused on the deregulation of shops opening hours and the process that is upstream to this. The empirical research at the basis of this contribution has the aim to analyse times and rhythms of the retail work, on shifts, on Sundays and on holidays, in two known and global european shopping streets: Oxford Street in London and Corso Buenos Aires in Milan. The deregulation of shops openings influences the everyday life of retail workers and their representation of the future. Therefore, it is important to study the process of liberalization from a sociological point of view, in relation to the labour as well as to the consumption. These are two faces of the same coin, two groups of stakeholders linked to each other with conflictual instances

Oggetto dell’articolo è la deregolamentazione delle aperture dei negozi e il processo che ne è a monte. La ricerca empirica che ha portato a tali riflessioni ha lo scopo di indagare le trasformazioni dei tempi e dei ritmi del lavoro nel retail, oggi prevalentemente su turni, domenicale e festivo, nella vendita diretta in due note vie commerciali europee: Oxford Street a Londra e Corso Buenos Aires a Milano. La deregolamentazione delle aperture influenza la vita quotidiana e la rappresentazione del futuro di lavoratori e lavoratrici. È pertanto importante analizzare il processo di liberalizzazione del lavoro così come del consumo da un punto di vista sociologico: due facce della stessa medaglia e due gruppi di interesse connessi e portatori di istanze conflittuali
