LEONARDO AND MEDICINE - LEONARDO's CODICES Leonardo, the most renown italian genius, excelled in Sciences and Arts. Even in Medicine he contributed to the development of Anatomy and Physiology during the Italian Renaissance. Nevertheless Leonardo was fully appreciated only centuries after his death, because of conflicts with learned people of his time, and for not having published during his life the huge number of his manuscripts, in which he noted with specular handwriting any thought or observation, adding wonderful drawings. These scripts, which show his anxiety for research and perfection, have been collected into codices (codex=books), and after his death underwent incredible peregrinations from Italy abroad, following the passion of those who could understand and appreciate them.
