The instability, precariousness, and insecurity are characterizing the today’s job market render individuals with disability at high risk for the process of career construction and work inclusion (Nota, Soresi, Ferrari, & Ginevra, 2014). In Europe, the employment rate for individuals with disability is as low as 44.9% compared to 75% of people without disability (Eichhorst et al., 2010). Even in Italy, the work inclusion of individuals with disability remains a pressing issue: the employment rate in working age people with disability is about 44%, and decreases with severity of disability. In addition, individuals with disability are the ones who experience more disadvantages in the labor market: Foster and Wass (2012), for example, specified that the magnitude of disability is associated with a greater employment penalty than other variables connected to employment disadvantage (e.g. gender, ethnicity, low education). Stigma has a significant role in this phenomenon, as individuals with disability are frequently subjected to prejudice and perceived as being less desirable employees than those without disability (Song, Eric, & Dalun, 2013). Therefore, career guidance interventions are needed to increasingly take into account people with disability and vulnerability and stimulate their active participation to professional life. In this chapter, both career counseling and career coaching activities will be discussed, aiming to promote work inclusion of individuals with disability. This latter represents a main goal and challenge in Europe as the EU Research and Innovation programme “Horizon 2020” specified. Career interventions should promote career construction and planning in people with disability, as work is a crucial issue also in the lives of people with disability to the construction of their personal identity and life needs satisfaction. In this way, career designing and guidance would hold a position of relevance for social equity, as it could stimulate normalization, participation, and respect of rights of individuals with disability, and promote a civil economy and community welfare (Giunta et al., 2014)
