The author presents the cognitive-constructivist clinical model and the role of emotions in interpersonal processes. A wide section of the chapter presents the personality profile and developmental history of people with eating disorders. Low emotion awareness and emotions dyregulation is a core feature of these disorders, as supported by the literature described in the chapter. in particular according to the cognitive clinical model, at the core of the psychological problems we found a specific vulnerability to emotions like vulnerability to judgement, shame, feeling of loneliness. the chapter ends with some suggestion for a better oriented psychological and psychoeducational intervention in school age.
