The inclusive cross section for top-quark pair production measured by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is compared to the QCD prediction at next-to-next-to-leading order with various parton distribution functions to determine the top-quark pole mass, m<inf>t</inf> <sup>pole</sup>, or the strong coupling constant, α<inf>S</inf>. With the parton distribution function set NNPDF2.3, a pole mass of 176. 7<sup>+3.8</sup> <inf>-3.4</inf>GeV is obtained when constraining α<inf>S</inf>at the scale of the Z boson mass, m<inf>Z</inf>, to the current world average. Alternatively, by constraining m<inf>t</inf> <sup>pole</sup>to the latest average from direct mass measurements, a value of α<inf>S</inf>(m<inf>Z</inf>) = 0. 1151<sup>+0.0033</sup> <inf>-0.0032</inf>is extracted. Abstract
The inclusive cross section for top-quark pair production measured by the CMS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is compared to the QCD prediction at next-to-next-to-leading order with various parton distribution functions to determine the top-quark pole mass, m
t pole , or the strong coupling constant, α
S . With the parton distribution function set NNPDF2.3, a pole mass of 176. 7
+3.8 -3.4 GeV is obtained when constraining α
S at the scale of the Z boson mass, m
Z , to the current world average. Alternatively, by constraining m
t pole to the latest average from direct mass measurements, a value of α
S (m
Z ) = 0. 1151
+0.0033 -0.0032 is extracted. This is the first determination of α

La simulazione si basa sui dati IRIS e sugli indicatori bibliometrici alla data indicata e non tiene conto di eventuali periodi di congedo obbligatorio, che in sede di domanda ASN danno diritto a incrementi percentuali dei valori. La simulazione può differire dall'esito di un’eventuale domanda ASN sia per errori di catalogazione e/o dati mancanti in IRIS, sia per la variabilità dei dati bibliometrici nel tempo. Si consideri che Anvur calcola i valori degli indicatori all'ultima data utile per la presentazione delle domande. La presente simulazione è stata realizzata sulla base delle specifiche raccolte sul tavolo ER del Focus Group IRIS coordinato dall’Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia e delle regole riportate nel DM 598/2018 e allegata Tabella A. Cineca, l’Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia e il Focus Group IRIS non si assumono alcuna responsabilità in merito all’uso che il diretto interessato o terzi faranno della simulazione. Si specifica inoltre che la simulazione contiene calcoli effettuati con dati e algoritmi di pubblico dominio e deve quindi essere considerata come un mero ausilio al calcolo svolgibile manualmente o con strumenti equivalenti.
