Aim of the study: Spirituality in its clinical applications today is mainly considered in terms of the presence of a religious belief or faith. Up to now most clinical tests that analyze spirituality have been limited to questionnaires on the religious profile, and have focused more on the behaviouraI aspects than on aspects regarding interior spiritual sensitivity. Patients and methods: This preliminary study was designed to collect some essential information about the potential efficacy of a new individual test elaborated to explore the spiritual dimension in 100 healthy volunteers in a clinical prospective. Results: Findings show no significant difference between religious and non-religious people. The only significant difference occurring in this study was relative to the person's marital status, and shows that divorced subjects score higher thus displaying a higher level of spirituality compared to single or married subjects. Conclusions: Results suggest that spirituality is an absolutely subjective variable and independent from the level of education, sex, age and religious faith. Specifically, religion and spirituality are not to be considered as the same condition
