A theoretical analysis of a high pressure plasma device is presented. Detailed modeling of the gas-phase chemical kinetics for a high pressure discharge in the streamer regime is discussed and a suitable numerical simulation has been implemented. The present work describes simulations of the time evolution of a single streamer in an air discharge. Results are presented in order to display the effects on the chemical kinetics of discharge parameters such as the electron density, the electron temperature, the streamer radius and formation time.

Abstract

A theoretical analysis of a high pressure plasma device is presented. Detailed modeling of the gas-phase chemical kinetics for a high pressure discharge in the streamer regime is discussed and a suitable numerical simulation has been implemented. The present work describes simulations of the time evolution of a single streamer in an air discharge. Results are presented in order to display the effects on the chemical kinetics of discharge parameters such as the electron density, the electron temperature, the streamer radius and formation time.
