Odontoday: screening pedo-ortodontico nel territorio lombardo

The pedo-orthodontic department of the University of Milano-Bicocca organized in the month of November 2006 in cooperation with the city of Monza and the ASL 3 a screening on children of paediatric age with the goal to investigate the epidemiology and offer a valuable contribution in limiting and possibly reducing the prevalence of carious lesions. Oral health recorded was generally good and data clearly indicate possible future strategies to further reduce caries prevalence in children population in our district. A parallel high prevalence of orthodontic deformities was registered. This kind of problems many times could be more easily solved if treatment begins before pubertal growth spur. An early diagnosis, made in school environment, allows clinician to select cases that could benefit of an early therapy.
