The field of knowledge-based systems (KBS’s) has rapidly been growing over the last decade, and the need to evaluate the performance and quality of KBS applications has emerged. However, many approaches and methods proposed for KBS evaluation are partial, poorly systematic, and not easily applicable. The purpose of this paper is to present a new approach to KBS evaluation, which comprises a precise definition of the concepts of performance and quality, a general evaluation methodology, and a set of criteria to support its practical application.

Abstract
The field of knowledge-based systems (KBS’s) has rapidly been growing over the last decade, and the need to evaluate the performance and quality of KBS applications has emerged. However, many approaches and methods proposed for KBS evaluation are partial, poorly systematic, and not easily applicable. The purpose of this paper is to present a new approach to KBS evaluation, which comprises a precise definition of the concepts of performance and quality, a general evaluation methodology, and a set of criteria to support its practical application.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
