The Neo-Colonial Land Use Paradigm: the Case of East Africa

How do the interests of various actors articulate in land management and conservation? On what premises do governments and stakeholders collaborate/clash to conserve/manage natural resources? The seminar will provide insights into the increasing influence of foreign agencies on land use policies in Africa, through the peculiar case of East Africa. The highly controversial case of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area will be presented as an example of how the international conservation agenda affects the local land use paradigm.
