My work explores agency and activism as potential protective factors for children amidst structural violence and conflict, particularly in their efforts to challenge oppressive power structures. Drawing on over a decade of research employing mixed methodologies, the colloquium offers insights into how these constructs manifest in the context of ongoing traumatic experiences in Palestine. Additionally, it delves into the dual nature of agency as both a protective and risk factor for children in such environments.

Abstract

My work explores agency and activism as potential protective factors for children amidst structural violence and conflict, particularly in their efforts to challenge oppressive power structures. Drawing on over a decade of research employing mixed methodologies, the colloquium offers insights into how these constructs manifest in the context of ongoing traumatic experiences in Palestine. Additionally, it delves into the dual nature of agency as both a protective and risk factor for children in such environments.
