Abstract

In the first part of my stydy it was considered important to investigate and explore the Italian scientific literature - but also the French and Anglo-Saxon world - to study and verify if and how topics and issues had already been addressed, within different epistemological and methodological paradigms, with a special attention in the human sciences to science education, but also to sociology and psychology of aging. A subject as complex and multifaceted may not, in fact, that justify the need for dialogue with other disciplines: it is precisely in comparison with other kinds of knowledge that lies the possibility to replay the specificity of teaching and identify the coordinates and the frame of reference in field of human sciences within which to develop the research design. The second part of this study, in order to better analyze and understand more closely the object of research, it became necessary to provide a series of not directed interviews. It was thirty-six in-depth interviews aimed at retired and retiring, graviting in the Milan area, with different levels of education and heterogeneous socio-cultural conditions, which has offered the researcher a number of stresses inherent in the research itself, and the narrators stimulate reflection on the issues at the center of subject matter. All interviews were recorded and analyzed: each interview has been studied as a whole, following the identification of the core themes of particular importance and interest that have produced a thematic analysis, which led to the establishment of minutes a narrative, in which citations of the songs of the interviews were treated as text in support of the issues investigated. The use of this mode of analysis has been integrated and supported by the use of T-LAB, a program consists of a set of linguistic and statistical tools for the analysis of content and text mining, which uses automated and semi-breakers that, in turn, have allowed to quickly highlight meaningful patterns of words, themes, and variables. Once you have completed the analysis of the interviews collected in order to further deepen the transition to retirement, it was decided to set up a laboratory narrative (auto)biographical attended in twenty of retired and retiring and previously interviewed with a mid-high level of education and living in good economic conditions, more likely to write and talk about their past, representations and life experiences. The initial idea was to capture whether and how retired/retiring, who are attempting with the autobiographical narrative, writing and living as, where appropriate, is it possible for them to change their actions in relation to the transition process. At a later stage, they have made - and analyzed below - another twenty interviews with all participants at the laboratory compared to the value which can assume the narrative practices as a tool to accompany the retirement.
