Susbsuming Subsumption. Theory and Politics

The main purpose of this paper is to extrapolate from the Marxian critique of political economy and his understanding of subsumption insights on social power relations in the context of digital capitalism in order to interrogate the antagonistic relation between digital labour and digital capital. With the purpose of developing a critical perspective on digital capitalism, I will claim than when approached dialectically, the notion of subsumption can provide important correctives to the following issues: to problematize the digital technology fetish; to problematize the historic telos of capital irresistible progression; and finally to provide a more nuanced account of the labour-capital relations mediated by the digital.
