Guest editorial preface: Software and system engineering: an ontological perspective

The ONTOSE workshop series is participated by an inter-disciplinary group of researchers periodically discussing the topics of an ontological perspective in software and system engineering. The workshop provides an overview of the state-of-the-art research on the design of high-quality software systems is provided through a greater understanding of ontology. The common interest in ontologies as a means of sharing knowledge among users and representing software systems has become an important research area. The joint involvement of researchers investigating ontologies from various perspectives of computer science has opened-up new networking possibilities and shared common scientific interests. The ONTOSE workshop discussed the topic of application of ontology in software and system engineering through a research papers entitled 'ontology and formal ontology representations of software engineering, systems engineering and information systems'.
