Virginia Ryan’s work operates in that place of dialogue and disagreement that lies between Western rhetoric, fuelled by literature, cinema, and the many and varied African players presentinging themselves: it is a vast archive of memory and of visions, both unique and shared, in which individuals represent themselves in relation to others.
