In this Presentation of the Forum "Norm and Action. One hundred years since the birth of Georg Henrik von Wright" the Editors revisit the origins of von Wright's book Norm and Action, starting from his first research on deontic logic published in 1951: notably, they underline how von Wright's awareness of the fundamental problem of the very possibility of a logic of norms - a logic of non-truth-functional entities - gradually emerged in his works. In the second part of the Presentation, the Editors highlight the original and stimulating contribution more generally given by Norm and Action to the philosophy of norms through the analysis of the "field of meaning" of the word 'norm'.

Abstract
In this Presentation of the Forum "Norm and Action. One hundred years since the birth of Georg Henrik von Wright" the Editors revisit the origins of von Wright's book Norm and Action, starting from his first research on deontic logic published in 1951: notably, they underline how von Wright's awareness of the fundamental problem of the very possibility of a logic of norms - a logic of non-truth-functional entities - gradually emerged in his works. In the second part of the Presentation, the Editors highlight the original and stimulating contribution more generally given by Norm and Action to the philosophy of norms through the analysis of the "field of meaning" of the word 'norm'.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
