The synthesis problem for Petri nets consists in building a Petri net satis- fying a given behavioural specification. In its applications, quite often the initial specification is inherently sequential, and part of the problem consists in eliciting potential concurrence. This book aims at giving a comprehensive and systematic survey of the syn- thesis problem and of region theory, which underlies its solution.
