In this paper we present how a coopetitive model (i.e. an interaction model where cooperation and competition take place at the same time) can be useful to set up a federated information system which allows the involved actors to share their information assets. We provide some examples over different domains where cooperation and competition take place. We argue that policy making and incentive offering is a critical factor in establishing a coopetitive scenario. We exploit the game theory to identify the requirements for policy making in a federated information system where data (the main actors¿ asset) is shared and improved from the quality point of view.

Abstract

In this paper we present how a coopetitive model (i.e. an interaction model where cooperation and competition take place at the same time) can be useful to set up a federated information system which allows the involved actors to share their information assets. We provide some examples over different domains where cooperation and competition take place. We argue that policy making and incentive offering is a critical factor in establishing a coopetitive scenario. We exploit the game theory to identify the requirements for policy making in a federated information system where data (the main actors¿ asset) is shared and improved from the quality point of view.
