Vedere le altre: rappresentazioni del corpo femminile e influenza mediatica

The paper presents the results of the phase 2 of an ongoing project on the social representations of the female body in women of different generations. The main objective is the investigation of the microgenetic level of representations, through the analysis of the discursive productions of two groups (40 women: 20 young women and 20 adults). The main research question concerns the investigation of: a) the media influence effects; b) the ‘discursive resistance'. The Thematic Analysis of the discursive productions shows: a) the negative effects of media influence on body image and the social pressure to conformity; b) the space for recovering/developing a critical awareness, through the building of female networks in private and public spheres.
