This paper uses the Poverty and Social Exclusion Survey (PSE) of Britain in order to reveal the gender relationship between poverty and inequalities and its gender dimension. The PSE survey was undertaken by the Office for National Statistics in 1999 as a follow-up of a sample of respondents to the 1998/99 General Household Survey. It is an extension of two previous national surveys - the Breadline Britain Surveys.
