In the last decade Health Psychology has devoted increasing attention to the study of the resilient component of psychological functioning searching for salutogenic factors that can promote an effective adjustment in the face of adversity. In this study we concentrate on the meaning dimension. A great number of international studies proved its relationship with positive effects on both mental and general health. Results from an inquiry conducted on a group of 88 CVD patients will be presented. Participants were examined during cardiac rehabilitation program in post-acute (angina) and post-traumatic (IMA) phase. General aim is to verify if the meaning dimension is a resilient factor. The meaning dimension has been operazionalized in terms of redemption sequences, collected by a narrative stimulus from McAdams¿ Auto-guided Biography. Well-being indicators have been collected with the SF36 Questionnaire. Results highlight positive relations between redemption sequences and both mental and general health confirming that meaning dimension is a protective factor of psycho-physical well-being.
