This study investigated the associations of centre-based care and of the age of entering this care with several aspects of social behaviour, the security of attachment and the comprehension of emotions, in the preschool years. Participants were 349 children. Controlling for sex, age and SES, we found children with centre-care experience showed more social competence but also more externalizing behaviour / low-compliance. Further a low negative association between entering centre-care before 12 months and the emotion comprehensions
