This paper aims to illustrate and explain the set of translation strategies used by the contemporary poet Fabio Pusterla in translating L'Effraie and L'Ignorant, two of the first Philippe Jaccottet's poetry books. The analysis, focusing on examples of linguistic, sty listic and textual issues, shows how the source-texts, often built on hy potactic structure in order to follow the flow of thought, are systematically modified and simplified by the translator, until reaching, in the target-texts of Il barbagianni and L'ignorante, another rhythm , closer to that of Fabio Pusterla's first poetic production
