Every age experiences discomfort, but the current one presents features that constitutes the discomfort a normal experience, that nobody avoid, and an extraordinary experience, that ends in declared pathologies or in extreme, violent or deviant, gestures. The article aims to show the continuity between normality and exceptionality of the discomfort, putting in question the common sense about it, that is to say that the discomfort belongs only to certain categories of persons, and that it can be controlled, or even cancelled, through specialized interventions. More specifically, the article aims to show that such continuity is rooted in formal and informal education, and that the discomfort, as a way of being in the world that is learned by experience, is first of all an educational issue. Therefore, working as educators in discomfort requires both an adequate preparation and professional instruments. Rediscovering the sense of method in a professional culture inspired by the ethic of care can represent a perspective to take care of the educational discomfort.
