Supramolecular chemistry finds in solid-state NMR spectroscopy a privileged characterization method, especially in a variety of multidimensional experiments. Several applications of solid-state NMR to inclusion compounds, host–guest systems, cocrystals, polymeric self-assembly, and porous materials have been realized. Gases and volatile molecules were detected in supramolecular adducts by NMR as well, providing accurate information about their interaction with the solid transport properties and anisotropic behavior. In ordered systems, the results are complementary to XRD and, thus, NMR is regarded as a structural method, but it is also sensitive to amorphous phases, complex molecular aggregates, interfaces, and overall dynamics.

Abstract

Supramolecular chemistry finds in solid-state NMR spectroscopy a privileged characterization method, especially in a variety of multidimensional experiments.
