Written Sources about Africa and their Study / Le fonti scritte sull'Africa e i loro studi

The present volume is dedicated to the study of written sources about Africa and aims at bringing together various disciplines. The research results presented here take into account the specific features of the texts examined regarding both form and content, along with the different historical periods in which the texts have been produced (i.e. antiquity, medieval, modern and contemporary period) and the diverse geographic areas to which the texts relate, which are North Africa, including Egypt and the Sahara, East Africa and West Africa. In doing so, the findings of thes studies could benefit diverse scientific domains working on Africa, and particularly those of humanities and social sciences.

Il presente volume è dedicato allo studio delle fonti scritte sull'Africa e mira a riunire varie discipline. I risultati della ricerca qui presentati tengono conto delle caratteristiche specifiche dei testi esaminati per quanto riguarda sia la forma che il contenuto, insieme ai diversi periodi storici in cui i testi sono stati prodotti (cioè l'antichità, il medio evo, l'età moderna e contemporanea) e le diverse aree geografiche a cui si riferiscono i testi, che sono il Nord Africa, Egitto e Sahara inclusi, l'Africa orientale e l'Africa occidentale. In tal modo, i risultati di questi studi potrebbero avvantaggiare diversi ambiti scientifici che operano sull'Africa, in particolare le scienze umane e sociali.
