With our study, our intention is to reflect critically on the importance of Divergent Thinking (DT) in the Italian educational context. We intend to discuss here the relationship between DT and school, analysing the reasons why DT can be important in the educational context and, therefore, the ways for supporting it. Teaching and learning methodologies, strategies and activities that allow the children to solicit the factors involved in the creative process are discussed in detail, as well as observational practices and documentation tools that can support the work of the teachers in this regard. The study intends to report some observations that allow assessing where DT fits into the present-day Italian scholastic system, in a dialectic vision between the educational offer and the feedback from the children in planning paths and projects conceived to support creativity and DT
