Oak forests (Quercus robur) in the Ticino Regional Park show notable damage conditions due to environmental stresses: insect attach, summer drought and pollution. Knowing whether oakr are healthy or stressed can assist in resource planning in order to take measures to conserve theforest resources before the damage is too evident. The detection of vegetation response to stress can be achieved by the identification of bioindicators offorest health status such as foliar pigment concentration, retrieved by hyperspectral sensors. In this frame un airborne campaign with the hyperspectral MVIS sensor was conducted in summer 2003 over the Ticino Park forested area. The chlorophyll content retrieved resulted in a valuable indicator of the forest health status.
