We present data on thin films of germanosilicate glass which contains a gallium-oxide nanophase and alkali ions as charge compensators. Films are obtained by DC magnetron sputtering deposition from a target of bulk glass produced by melt quenching technique. These films are investigated as far as it concerns light absorption, emission and charge transport
